Hi,
I'm wondering about finding high-speed access in Kenya and Tanzania. I'll be there for several months and I have some editing work I'd like to do on my own laptop. Ideally, wireless is the best, but if I can plug in to a phone line, I've worked at speeds as low as 28.8 Kbs/sec (that's what I get at my own rural home in the States, and it's OK for certain projects I work on). I've seen several East African places (hotels, etc) advertising highspeed on the internet, but my world traveler friends warn me that things aren't always what they seem....
Basically I'm just trying to get a handle on if I might find wireless, accessible to the public, in any of the following places: Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Zanzibar, Mombasa.
Thank you,
Nora

Re: Internet access (namely speed) in East Africa
Fri, January 20, 2006 - 5:36 PMHi Nora,
You may have already done this, but post this at the Africa Tribe. I know there are people there who have worked recently in East Africa, as well as a couple of people in Kenya. I think you might get some on the ground advice fro tribers there.
