Hello all,
I'm Ray from San Jose, California. While I am still a techie in training, I have a big interest in Linux, perl, C++, and wireless technology.
I also think its great that there is a technical group FUBU.

Oh, we're out here, you just have to know where to look. Also, it depends on what you mean by "techie." There are a lot of Black people in corporate MIS, but maybe not as many in the Unix/Linux world. Make no mistake though, like Jesus, I'm here to bring you the good news: you are not alone. If you can make it to Santa Barbara for the AfroGeeks conference, we can talk. And if you're in the Bay Area of California, we can meet even sooner (that goes for everyone).

Re: Hello all.
Sun, April 18, 2004 - 5:07 PMYes. Where I grew up was mostly white. That's a topic for a book, I'm sure. Glad to be here though. I'm not a techie by training or trade, just hang out with a lot of techies both profesionally and personally. I seem to fit in being generally geeky by hip black standards. And yes, I also get lonely for some folks, particularly those who won't judge me because I'm not just like them :).
